Traveling to Milwaukee with New Friends

June 5th – Day 3. Cedarburg, WI – Racine, WI 52 miles. Total Miles – 181
Weather: Partly cloudy, 70, cross and tail wind

Today we left Cedarburg after a nice visit and breakfast with Val our Warm Showers host. We were on the road by 8:00am to meet up with Keith another Warm Showers member who lives in Cedarburg.

Keith and Rob were both ready to go when we met them at the Cedarburg Community Gym and we headed south on the Ozaukee Interurban Trail(OIT) The OIT is a great trail that will take us all the way to Mequon and then connects with the Oak Leaf Trail to take us into Milwaukee and Lake Shore Drive.

It was great to ride with Keith and Rob because they did all the navigating and we very easily landed in Milwaukee by 9:30am. We then went to a local coffee shop and had a drink and a snack and sat for quite a while to get to know each other better.

Keith and Rob’s families were coming to meet them in Milwaukee and then planned to do lunch. We needed to head down the road to Racine. Their families arrived and we had a chance to spend some time with them all – it was fun.

After finally making it out of Milwaukee we stopped for lunch in South Milwaukee at a great Italian place. The food was good and just what we needed to complete the rest of the trip.

We arrived in Racine by 3:30pm and had lots of time for a great visit, dinner and dessert, with our long time friends Doug and Kim. All to soon it was time to get organized for our next day and hit the hay. We both were tried and ready for bed.

Sorry no pictures again today having trouble getting them downloaded.  Will try again tomorrow.

Sounds like the trip is going well so far. You’re meeting great people and getting to ride on a lot of bike paths! And 87 miles on your second day! Wow! You guys are amazing!
