Day off in Prairie du Chien

Day 6 – June 27, 2015

Wyalusing State Park to Prairie du Chien – 19 miles

We got up early because Tracy looked at her Fitbit without her glasses and thought it was 6:30am when it was really 5:30am ouch!! We packed up anyway and headed to Prairie du Chien – 11 miles away.  When we started it was quite foggy, luckily we had our head and tail lights thanks to J B Cycle and Sport.

We made it to town by 8:00am and had a great breakfast at Simply.  It was our first good coffee shop for several days.  After breakfast we met with Mary Antoine Director of the Crawford Museum and Matt Horner, volunteer for Fox Wisconsin Heritage Parkway for a tour of the various historical places in the community.  Mary drove us around town and explained the history and showed us the various facilities they offer for public tours.  It is unbelievable the amount of history this small town has from the Fort Crawford Museum to Villa Louis Museum and St. Feriole Island Park.  The historic facilities are fairly close and could easily be toured by bicycle.  For more information on these historic facilities:  www.

We then headed to the hotel for a much needed shower and a nap.

Please enjoy the attached videos from the past several days. I will put up some pictures soon.

Tomorrow we begin our return trip to Green Bay and it is suppose to rain all day – hopefully not but if so we will just get wet!!

This is a very different kind of trip for you two and we’ve loved the blogs. In Walla Walla today it is110 degrees so sorry you may have rain tomorrow. Friends from home invited us to visit their Winery today. Have some great “samples” in Stella. We head towards home tomorrow.. After an overnight in Leavenworth we will complete our trip and turn our heads two

It’s 110 here so the rain you expect sounds pretty darn delicious.
