WE BIKE Across America 2014!

Image

Well, it’s official, Tracy and I will be bicycling across the country this summer!

No really, bicycling, on our tandem (Violet), all the way from Bellingham, WA to Bar Harbor, ME – 4,300 miles, give or take a few.

This trip has been a long time in coming, roughly 23 years.  I know it has been 23 years because that is the age of our oldest daughter, Melissa.  In the spring of 1991 we took our first multiday bicycling trip as a family.  It was a long weekend fundraiser with the American Lung Association of Minneapolis, MN.  Tracy road her brand new Trek (780, I think) cross bike and I pulled Melissa in her Burley Delite bicycle trailer with my Trek 560 road bike – bad plan, no really low gears.  Rain, cloth diapers, microwaving baby bottles at convenience stores, it was all good.

Over the next few months, we will be blogging about pretty much whatever we feel like.  We will always keep you up to date (Internet not withstanding) on our day to day progress and adventures along the way.  But, some days, we will share our views on various related topics or simply wax poetic about that wonderful balancing act, which is life, that has lead us to this point in our lives.

Our hope is that you will follow us on our journey, letting our joys, trials and tribulations entertain, inspire and encourage you as you move through your own journeys, whatever they may be.

Carpe Diem,

Peter
